BlueLayer for the credit business, Restoration Scope for the land and field work behind it

BlueLayer is software for carbon project developers: project management, the credit lifecycle from estimate to retirement, sales to buyers, and a dMRV module that turns operational data into verification reports. Restoration Scope covers the work on the ground: land and landowners, field teams, plots and monitoring, configured around your project.

Restoration Scope

Should you use BlueLayer or Restoration Scope?

It depends on where your hard part is. If it is the credit business, forecasting issuance, tracking inventory and contracts, selling to buyers, BlueLayer is built for that and Restoration Scope does not do it. If it is land and forest field work, land agreements, field teams working offline, plots revisited every season, Restoration Scope is configured around that; BlueLayer’s site describes field data for biochar operations, not forest plots. They solve different problems.

Field dataIts dMRV module brings in data from systems, sensors and devices, and a case study describes an offline mobile companion app for biochar field teams. Its site does not describe forest plot inventories. The Field App works offline: field teams record surveys, photos and planting areas on the same property maps the office sees.
Land and landownersIts site does not describe parcels, landowner records or land agreements.Parcels, landowners and eligible area, moving through a pipeline from first conversation to contract.

Where each fits

Pick BlueLayer when

  • Your hard part is the credit business: issuance forecasts, inventory, contracts and sales to buyers.
  • You run a portfolio of projects and want one view of credits across it.
  • Your removal data comes from systems and sensors, as in biochar or biomass removal, and you need it turned into verification reports.

Pick Restoration Scope when

  • Your hard part is the ground: land agreements, field teams working offline, plots revisited every season.
  • Your land, field and monitoring data sits in separate spreadsheets, forms and GIS files, and you want it joined and set up with you.
  • You report to your own investors or donors and want portals built from the same records.

Questions teams ask

Does BlueLayer have a field data app?

Yes, for some workflows. A July 2026 case study describes an offline mobile companion app that biochar field teams use to send inputs to its dMRV module. Its site does not describe forest plot inventories. The Restoration Scope Field App records surveys, photos and planting areas offline, on the project’s property maps.

Does Restoration Scope manage carbon credits?

No. We don’t issue, track or sell credits, and we are not a registry or a verifier. BlueLayer covers the credit lifecycle; Restoration Scope keeps the land, field and monitoring records behind the credits.

How much does BlueLayer cost?

BlueLayer does not publish prices; it offers demos on request. Restoration Scope is priced per project after a scoping call, with no public price list.

Is Restoration Scope a BlueLayer alternative?

Only in part. For land, field operations and monitoring records, yes. For credit inventory, contracts and sales, no: that is BlueLayer’s core, and we don’t do it.
