Carbon Projects data terms
The Carbon Projects catalogue is compiled from public carbon registries and open research datasets. Restoration Scope doesn't own that data: each source's own terms apply when you reuse it.
Where does the data come from, and whose terms apply?
Each source below gives Carbon Projects part of its data, under its own terms:
- Project records: Australia's ACCU Scheme register (Clean Energy Regulator), Verra, Climate Action Reserve, Cercarbono, American Carbon Registry, Equitable Earth, Gold Standard and BioCarbon Registry. Each registry's terms of use apply.
- Project status, credits and buyers: CarbonPlan's OffsetsDB, under the CarbonPlan Terms of Use.
- Credit totals: the Berkeley Carbon Trading Project's Voluntary Registry Offsets Database, under CC BY 4.0.
- Project boundaries: a global database of nature-based carbon offset project boundaries (Karnik et al., 2024), under CC BY 4.0, and the registries' own maps and project documents, under their terms of use.
Can I reuse it?
Yes, under the terms of the source each record comes from. Check those terms before you republish, and credit the source. Most project pages link to their registry record.
What does Restoration Scope add?
We match records across sources, place each project on the map and link it to its developer. That work comes as is and may contain errors; the registries remain the record of truth. To report an error, email info@restorationscope.com.
