Last updated: 2026-10-12

Convert HEIC and HEIF photos from iPhones and other Apple devices to JPEG, in bulk, without uploading them anywhere.

Open the tool: https://restorationscope.com/tools/heic (free, no account).

## How it works

1. Drop HEIC or HEIF photos onto the page, as many as you need.
2. Each photo is converted to JPEG in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
3. Download the photos one by one or all at once.

## Input and output

- Input: HEIC or HEIF photos, for example from an iPhone, as many as you like.
- Output: A JPEG of each photo, with the same name and a .jpg extension.

## Example

Input:

```text
IMG_0412.HEIC, a photo from an iPhone.
```

Output:

```text
IMG_0412.jpg
```

## Limits

- The new images have no EXIF data, so the GPS location and camera details are gone. Map the original HEIC files first if you need their location.
- Download all saves the photos one by one, not as a zip; your browser may ask to allow several downloads.

## Privacy

Everything runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to our servers.

## Questions

### How do I convert HEIC photos to JPG without uploading them?

Drop the photos on the HEIC to JPEG Converter. The conversion runs inside your browser, so the photos never leave your computer, and you can download them one by one or all at once.

### Why do iPhone photos come out as HEIC?

iPhones save photos as HEIC by default because the files are about half the size of JPEG at the same quality. Many field apps, GIS tools and older software can't open them, which is why converting to JPEG helps.

### Do the converted photos keep their GPS location?

No. The converter creates new images without the original EXIF data, location included. To see where the photos were taken, put the original HEIC files on the Geotagged Photo Map first.
