# EUDR Field Plot Template

Last updated: 2026-10-21

A free spreadsheet for coffee and cocoa co-ops to record each plot in the field for the EUDR: farmer, plot, GPS point or polygon, area and commodity. Excel in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and Indonesian, or CSV.

Open the tool: https://restorationscope.com/tools/eudr-field-template (free, no account).

## How it works

1. Download the Excel template in your language, or the CSV. Each Excel file has a note on every column, a filled example and a notes sheet.
2. In the field, write one row per plot: the farmer, your own plot code, the country, the area in hectares and the commodity.
3. For a plot of 4 hectares or less, stand inside it and write the latitude and longitude from your phone’s GPS, with at least six decimals. For a larger plot, walk the edge and write each corner, in order, in the polygon column.
4. Drop the filled sheet into the EUDR plot file fixer to turn the rows into a GeoJSON plot file.

## Input and output

- Input: Nothing to upload: download the Excel template in your language, or the CSV, and fill it in on a phone, a tablet or paper.
- Output: A sheet with one row per plot: farmer, plot code, country, a GPS point or a polygon, area in hectares and commodity, ready for the EUDR plot file fixer.

## Example

Input:

```text
Three made-up plots of a coffee co-op near Moyobamba, Peru: Rosa Huamán’s 1.5 ha coffee plot as one GPS point, Luis Tapia’s 7.1 ha coffee plot as a polygon of its four corners, and his 18 ha cattle pasture as one point.
```

Output:

```text
ProducerName,ProductionPlace,ProducerCountry,Latitude,Longitude,Polygon,Area,Commodity
Rosa Huamán,SM-014,PE,-6.033012,-76.965811,,1.5,coffee
Luis Tapia,SM-021,PE,,,"-6.041012, -76.972034; -6.040811, -76.969702; -6.043209, -76.969598; -6.043402, -76.972113",7.1,coffee
Luis Tapia,SM-022,PE,-6.046521,-76.975302,,18,cattle
```

## Limits

- It is a template only, not a compliance or deforestation check. Filling it in doesn’t show that a plot is free of deforestation or that a shipment meets the EU rules.
- Commodity values are written in English (cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, rubber, soya or wood) in every language of the template.
- Excel set to Spanish, French or Portuguese saves CSV files with semicolons instead of commas. Keep the sheet as an Excel file when you can.
- Coordinates are latitude and longitude in decimal degrees, with at least six decimals, as a phone’s GPS shows them. Convert UTM or degrees-minutes-seconds first.

## Questions

### When do I need a polygon instead of a point for the EUDR?

For a plot of more than 4 hectares, record a polygon: the outline of the plot, corner by corner, in order. For 4 hectares or less, one point with its latitude and longitude is enough, though a polygon works for a small plot too. Cattle are the exception: one point per establishment, and every establishment where the animals were kept.

### How do I get GPS coordinates with my phone?

Turn on location and let Google Maps use your precise location. Stand still in the open for a minute, away from tall trees and roofs, then touch and hold the map where your blue dot is until a pin drops. Copy the latitude and longitude it shows, with any minus sign and at least six decimals. The GPS Accuracy Test shows how close your phone’s position is, in metres.

### Is there a version in Spanish?

Yes. The guide is in Spanish at restorationscope.com/tools/eudr-plantilla-parcelas, and the Excel template comes in Spanish (eudr-plot-template-es.xlsx), with its column notes, example and notes sheet in Spanish. It also comes in Portuguese, French and Indonesian. The column names stay the same in every language, so the plot file fixer reads them all.
