Thailand has lost 30% of its forest in the past 75 years. This project is focussed on planting and restoring endangered tree species while applying regenerative farming principles for soil restoration to the benefit of insects, microbes, fungi, virus and bacteria. Majority of seedlings will be planted around local community lakes which are breeding grounds for larger wildlife including birds, and other.
This project engages by planting trees with Youth in schools, Farmers in smallholder plots, and Community in public spaces. For Farmers, high value hardwood species are planted which have potential to provide income through sustainable forestry. Youth learn about the trees they are planting in school, and this is included in the theoretical and practical curriculum. During the tree planting season, students take school trips to the planting site and have the opportunity to apply what they have learned in the classroom in the real world. In addition, every student plants one tree in the school garden, and learns how to take care of the tree like watering, pruning, and natural fertilising.
