Last updated: 2026-10-21

What the EU Deforestation Regulation asks of coffee, cocoa and other supply chains, how to map plot geolocation, and the tools that prepare it.

Learn everything about the EUDR, step by step.

## 1. Understand the rule

Who has to comply, what a due diligence statement holds and when it applies.

## 2. Map every plot (Field team · Mapping)

A point or a boundary for each plot, collected in the field and kept current.

- Guide: [What geolocation the EUDR requires](https://restorationscope.com/blog/eudr-geolocation.md): Points, polygons, the 4 hectare rule and six decimals in a GeoJSON file.
- Guide: [Tools for EUDR geolocation data](https://restorationscope.com/blog/eudr-geolocation-tools.md): Field apps, file checkers and screening tools compared.
- Free tool: [Field plot template](https://restorationscope.com/tools/eudr-field-template): A free Excel sheet to record each plot in the field: producer, GPS point or boundary, area and crop.
- Free tool: [Plot file checker](https://restorationscope.com/tools/eudr-plot-file-checker): Check a plot file and fix it into a GeoJSON for TRACES, with every fix explained.
- Product: [Mapping plots in Restoration Scope](https://restorationscope.com/eudr#geolocation): Bring in the plots you have, then map and update the rest from the field.

## 3. Trace each lot to its plots (Production team · Harvest and lots)

Harvest recorded by plot, grouped into lots, with the geolocation file each lot needs.

- Guide: [EUDR for exporters](https://restorationscope.com/blog/eudr-for-exporters.md): What your EU buyer needs with each lot, and how to collect it from suppliers.
- Product: [Harvest and lots](https://restorationscope.com/eudr#traceability): Open a lot and see every farm in it, with its producer, area and harvest.

## 4. Review the evidence (Compliance team · Assessments)

Imagery from before the 2020 cutoff, forest maps and the plots whose data needs a fix. Your team makes the call.

- Guide: [EUDR compliance checklist](https://restorationscope.com/blog/eudr-compliance-checklist.md): Scope, information, risk, the statement and records, in order.
- Product: [Deforestation evidence](https://restorationscope.com/eudr#evidence): Satellite pictures from before and after 2020, and forest maps over each plot.
- Product: [Data quality](https://restorationscope.com/eudr#data-quality): The plots that need a fix, sent to the field team as tasks.

## 5. See it working

An example coffee cooperative with its plots, lots and imagery.
